BBS is one of the most famous names in wheels. It was founded in Germany in 1970, pioneered the three-piece racing wheel, and BBS Japan supplied every Formula 1 team from 2022 to 2025. We supply and fit genuine BBS wheels in Southport, from the German range to the forged BBS Japan models.
BBS was started in Schiltach, Germany, by Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand. The initials of their surnames and the town gave the company its name. Today there are two businesses. BBS in Germany, owned by suspension maker KW automotive, makes the European range such as the CH-R and CI-R. BBS Japan makes the forged wheels, including the LM, RI-A and FI-R.
The German side has had a rocky few years, with several insolvencies. In 2025 KW automotive bought the factories and restarted production, so BBS is very much still in business.

BBS Japan won the contract to supply standard wheels to every F1 team from 2022 to 2025, and BBS has a long history in the sport before that. Car makers also choose BBS for special models. The Porsche 918 Weissach Package and the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package both used BBS wheels.
BBS also sells cast and flow formed wheels, not just forged ones. Because the name is so famous, there are many copies around. Buying genuine BBS from a proper supplier protects your safety and the car’s value.
