American Racing Wheels Gold Coast

American Racing has made wheels since 1956, longer than any other brand we fit. It’s best known for the Torq Thrust, a design from 1963 that’s still on classic cars and hot rods today. The range now covers retro off-road wheels too. We supply and fit American Racing in Southport, for classics, muscle cars and 4WDs.

The Wheel That Defined a Look

American Racing was founded in California by Romeo Palamides, a drag racing pioneer. The Torq Thrust arrived in 1963, and Hot Rod Magazine later named it one of the top 20 speed parts that changed the world. If you’re restoring a classic and want it to look period-correct, this is often where the search ends.

The brand is now part of the Wheel Pros group, alongside KMC and Fuel, and comes into Australia through Wheel Pros Australia. Most of the range is cast, with a separate American Racing Forged line made in the USA.

Classic Style for 4WDs Too

The AR172 Baja is the off-road answer: a simple, old-school design in 6×139.7, including wide 15×10 sizes for that retro look on an older 4WD. The ATX Series covers heavier trucks.

Older vehicles bring their own fitment challenges, like unusual bolt patterns, small brakes, narrow guards and older suspension. We measure your vehicle before ordering rather than relying on a catalogue chart that might not account for a modified or imported car.
