From Lamington National Park tracks to South Stradbroke Island sand, the Gold Coast and its surrounds are an off-road playground. At Action Tyres & More in Southport, we’ll make sure your tyres are up for the adventure — and the drive home on the highway afterwards.
Off road and all terrain tyres are built for drivers who don’t just stick to the bitumen. Deeper tread patterns, reinforced sidewalls, and construction that can handle loose surfaces — sand, gravel, dirt, and everything in between — while still being comfortable enough to drive daily on Gold Coast roads.
The beauty of a quality all terrain tyre is the versatility. You’re not giving up a smooth highway ride just to handle a weekend track. Modern AT tyres have come a long way — quieter, more fuel efficient, and genuinely capable both on and off-road. For most Gold Coast 4WD owners, they’re the obvious choice.
Built for where the bitumen ends. Our all-terrain and off-road range handles beach sand, Hinterland fire trails, and everything in between — without sacrificing too much when you’re back on the highway heading home.
From all-terrain options that handle the daily commute and the weekend track, to aggressive mud terrain tyres built for serious conditions — our off-road range covers every application. Whatever terrain you’re heading into, our Southport workshop carries the brands and sizes to get you there and back.

At Action Tyres & More, we stock a strong range of off road and all terrain tyres across leading brands — and we’ll ask the right questions before recommending anything. How often do you actually go off-road? Mostly beach, or tracks and bush? Daily driver or weekend warrior? The answers change the recommendation.
Every fitment is done properly at our Southport workshop — balanced, aligned, and ready to go. We service the whole Gold Coast and we know this area’s terrain as well as anyone.
All terrain (AT) tyres are the versatile middle ground — capable enough off-road but comfortable and manageable on sealed roads every day. Mud terrain (MT) tyres are at the aggressive end — purpose-built for serious off-road conditions with chunky tread patterns that dig into mud and soft surfaces. The trade-off is they’re louder on the highway, wear faster on sealed roads, and can feel less predictable in wet on-road conditions. For most Gold Coast drivers who go off-road occasionally, AT tyres are the smarter, more practical choice.
Yes — and they’re the tyre of choice for most local beach drivers. The key is airing down correctly before you hit the sand, typically to around 18–22 PSI depending on the tyre size and vehicle weight. Lower pressure spreads the tyre’s footprint across a larger surface area, giving you the float you need on soft sand. AT tyres handle this well without needing to go full mud terrain. When you come in, we can advise on the right deflation range for your specific setup.
Marginally — the more aggressive tread compound and pattern used in AT tyres does typically result in slightly faster wear compared to a regular highway tyre. How much faster depends on how much off-road driving you do and how the vehicle is maintained. Regular rotation every 10,000km makes a significant difference to even wear across all four tyres. Keeping them properly inflated on the road also slows wear considerably, since running soft on bitumen generates heat and speeds up deterioration.
Absolutely — that’s exactly what they’re designed for. Modern all terrain tyres are refined enough to handle highway driving, urban streets, and school run traffic without the noise and harshness that older generations were known for. If you’re commuting daily and hitting the beach or bush on weekends, a quality AT tyre is genuinely one of the most practical investments you can make for your 4WD.
There’s typically a minor impact on fuel economy compared to a highway terrain tyre — heavier construction and more aggressive tread patterns do increase rolling resistance slightly. The difference is real but usually small in everyday driving. If fuel economy is a priority and you only go off-road occasionally, a highway terrain tyre with better rolling efficiency might be worth considering. We’ll walk you through the trade-offs honestly.
Yes — particularly if you’re changing tyre size or fitting a tyre with a different construction to what was on before. An alignment check after fitting new tyres is always recommended, and it’s even more important on vehicles that see regular off-road use. Rough terrain knocks alignments out faster than road driving, so it’s worth keeping on top of even between tyre changes.
