2011 SERIES INFORMATIONAim To provide a place to race enabling the enthusiast to step up from Club and State level competition to National level in a cost effective „no thrills‟ Series with Manufacturers‟ support. Eligible Competitors To be an eligible competitor the person must: • Not be a „seeded‟ driver • Hold a CAMS minimum PC licence Vehicle Eligibility The Category features the Porsche GT3 Cup car Type 997 as the benchmark vehicle. 996 GT3 Cup car‟s and all normally aspirated Porsche models (996 and earlier) are eligible to compete subject to power/weight ratios and they must hold a suitable CAMS logbook. Track Time Subject to the individual Event Promoters requirements we endeavour to have the following track time; Friday Bump-in and 1 hour of unofficial practice (not compulsory) Saturday 1 x 20min Practice session 1 x 20min Qualifying session 1 x 20min Race Sunday 2 x 20min Races (or a combined minimum of 1 hour race time per round) Costs & Inclusions With the primary objective being cost containment, entry fees have been capped at $1500 + GST for 2011. This includes; • Entry fee • Garaging or Marquee hire • Friday practice • TV coverage (20min post-produced program on free-to-air and cable) • Trophies • Porsche Spare Parts truck at each round 2010 StatisticsOn Track Spectators An average of 3,000 spectators per event are track side to catch all the action. TV Viewers A total of 1,550,000 people watched GT3 Cup Challenge on the post produced TV show aired on „SBS Speedweek‟ with a staggering average of almost 260,000 viewer‟s per round. Website Hits Over 20,000 website hits have been recorded over the past year with nearly 90,000 page visits. The average visitor looks at 5 pages and spends more then 3 minutes on the site and of all the people who visited www.gt3cupchallenge.com.au over the past year, 45% were „New Visitors‟. Live Streaming The Shannons Nationals “Live Stream” all the footage and commentary from the track to www.thenationals.com.au so people that cannot be at the track can watch all the action as it happens 1,000‟s of Kilometres away. An average of 2,000 viewer‟s per round tuned into watch the live streaming of the races. Awards Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia presented by Mission Foods „Series Winner‟ The highest points scoring driver after the final round of the series. The second and third placed drivers will also be awarded. 997 Cup Class Winner For drivers participating in 997 Cup cars. The highest points scoring driver after the final round of the series. The second and third placed drivers will also be awarded. 996 Cup Class Winner For drivers participating in 996 Cup cars. The highest points scoring driver after the final round of the series. The second and third placed drivers will also be awarded. A, B, C & D Class Winners For drivers participating in cars eligible for Class A, B, C or D. The highest points scoring driver after the final round of the series from each class will be awarded providing they have participated in 3 or more rounds. |
